The Ebella from Toyota is India’s newest electric vehicle, having a range of up to 543 km.

E Bella

Toyota has officially launched the Urban Cruiser Ebella and started taking orders for it. This is a big step for the company in India’s electric vehicle sector. This electric vehicle comes at a time when Indian commuters are quickly adopting electric SUVs. Toyota is marketing the Ebella as a great option for both daily commuters and long-distance travelers.

What is the Ebella Urban Cruiser?

The Urban Cruiser Ebella is the first electric SUV from Toyota that will be sold in large numbers in India. While it wears a Toyota badge, the Ebella is closely similar to the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara – part of the continuous product-sharing policy between the Toyota and Maruti Suzuki alliance. It is built on the same specialized EV architecture and intended exclusively for the mid-size SUV category.

Unlike some EVs that rely mainly on futuristic appearance, the Ebella mixes current styling with a confident, SUV-like presence that corresponds well with Indian driving needs and desires.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Design

The Urban Cruiser Ebella introduces a revised design language compared with its platform cousin. At the front, it has a distinctive fascia with sleek, narrow LED headlights that blend with sharp LED DRLs and a clean, sculpted bumper. A closed-off grille highlights its electric identity, while 18-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels and deep wheel arches give it a poised appearance.

Rear door handles are located on the C-pillar, a design detail that accentuates the sleek profile, and minimal body cladding around the lower edges emphasizes the SUV character without being unduly dramatic.

Interior Comfort and Features

Inside, the Urban Cruiser Ebella features a thoughtfully laid-out interior that prioritises use and comfort. The dashboard merges digital beauty with physical controls, highlighted by a 10.25-inch touchscreen that allows wireless connectivity and a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster for driver information.

Toyota hasn’t skimped on creature comforts. Front seats are ventilated – a desirable feature in India’s climate — while back passengers benefit from sliding and reclining seats and large window space. A panoramic fixed glass roof bathes the interior in light, and ambient lighting adds a premium touch.

Performance, Battery and Range

Toyota provides the Urban Cruiser Ebella with two lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery options — 49 kWh and 61 kWh. These power a single electric motor that generates quick torque typical of EVs, ensuring smooth acceleration in urban traffic.

The larger 61 kWh battery model provides a claimed range of up to 543 km on a full charge, making the Ebella competitive with some of the longest-range EVs now available in India.

Charging flexibility is built in, with compatibility for both AC home charging and quicker DC solutions that may bring the battery from low to high state of charge in roughly 45 minutes (on compatible fast chargers).

Safety and Driver Assistance

Safety has not been disregarded. Toyota has endowed the Urban Cruiser Ebella with a package of technologies that include seven airbags, Level-2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, and tyre pressure monitoring.

These features help to give a confident and secure driving experience, especially in city traffic and on lengthy highway excursions.

Service and Ownership Programmes

Toyota is providing extensive ownership services for the Urban Cruiser Ebella. These services are supported by a strong infrastructure, including over 500 EV-enabled service centers nationwide and a team of about 2,500 trained EV technicians. Owners will also benefit from 24×7 roadside assistance.

For maintenance, Toyota notes that periodic service is quick, taking only about 45 minutes.

The company is also offering several financial and warranty provisions: an eight-year battery warranty, a ‘battery-as-a-service’ option, and a guaranteed buyback value of 60 percent after three years of ownership.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella colours

Toyota will offer the Ebella in nine exterior colours, including both monotone and dual-tone finishes, providing consumers a useful degree of choice.

While official pricing is expected soon, industry estimates and pre-launch disclosures imply a beginning range of roughly ₹18 lakh to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning the Ebella strategically against rivals from Tata, Hyundai, MG, Mahindra, and its own brother, the Maruti e-Vitara.

Variants including E1, E2 and E3 are expected, with battery configurations influencing power and range options.
